Do I need HRT, or something before it?

The honest starting point

HRT is the most evidence-backed treatment for menopausal symptoms, full stop. For many women it's transformative. If you take one thing from this page: HRT is a conversation you're entitled to have, with a clinician who knows the current evidence, not the 2002 headlines.

The fear most women carry comes from a twenty-year-old study whose alarming interpretation has been heavily revised since. Current UK guidance is clear that for most women under 60, benefits outweigh risks. Your personal picture is exactly that: personal. Family history, your own history and your preferences all belong in the decision.

Who it isn't for, and the honest middle

Some women can't take HRT, most commonly after certain cancers. Some try it and feel worse before the type and dose get dialled in, which can take months and is normal, not failure. And some simply prefer not to, which is also a complete answer.

"It's my body and my decision, and I'd like the information to make it."The sentence to take into every appointment

If HRT is off the table or on pause for you, the foundations chapter of our guide matters more, not less: sleep anchors, strength, protein, and honest nutritional support.

Where supplements honestly fit

Not as a replacement. Anyone who markets a supplement as a "natural alternative to HRT" is either confused or lying to you, and either way you should leave. A supplement is a foundation layer: daily nutritional support your body draws on whatever else you decide.

Many of our customers take Bloomelle alongside HRT; many take it while they wait, or instead, by choice. The label shows every dose so you and your GP can see exactly what's in it. That's the whole relationship we want with your medical care: transparent and complementary.

Before your appointment
  • Build the symptom diary and take two weeks of it
  • Write your top three symptoms in order
  • Ask directly: "could this be perimenopause, and is HRT an option for me?"
